Sweetstake® Terms & Conditions

  1. All entry instructions form part of these terms and conditions of entry. Participation in this promotion constitutes acceptance of these terms and conditions of entry.
  2. Entry is only open to UK residents aged 18 years and over, excluding employees of the Promoter, their families, agents or anyone else professionally connected with this Promotion.
  3. To take part, purchase a promotional pack of MARS, REVELS, M&Ms, GALAXY MINSTRELS, MALTESERS, TWIX, GALAXY RIPPLE, SNICKERS, STARBURST, SKITTLES and WRIGLEY’s EXTRA and enter the unique 10 digit code found INSIDE the pack and your email address at www.thesweetstake.com. Additional codes may be distributed via specific retailers or as part of the promotional support campaign. Promotional packs subject to availability.
  4. Promotion Period: Promotional codes to be registered between 00.01 on 8 April 2020 and 23.59 on 11 January 2021.
  5. Internet access is required.
  6. Northern Ireland residents only: no purchase necessary. Simply send a stamped addressed envelope with your full name, postal address and email to Mars Sweetstake NPN, PO Box 1079, Hemel Hempstead, HP1 1GY between 8 April 2020 and 23.59 on 3 January 2021. Only one free entry claim per envelope, per Northern Ireland resident, per day throughout the Promotion Period. On validation of a Northern Ireland postcode, you will be emailed a unique code to register in accordance with process described above. All valid NPN entries will be given an equal and random chance of winning via an independently supervised process. NPN claims should be received by 3 January 2021 to enable the Promoter to send a unique code which can be registered by the recipient prior to 11 January 2021.
  7. A maximum of one entry will be accepted per person per day. Each unique code can only be registered once.
  8. Bulk entries, entries submitted via agents, third parties, organised groups or those automatically generated by computer will not be accepted, but may still be charged. Entries received by any other means (e.g. post) will be rejected. Any person persistently trying to circumvent the entry process will be disqualified immediately.
  9. Packaging should be retained following registration of a promotional code, as it may be required to verify a winning claim.
  10. An entrant registering a valid promotional code during the Promotion Period will be notified of a scenario (a "Scenario") on screen relating to a short video clip which, if that clip matches the Scenario, will result in that entrant being able to claim a Video Win prize (“Video Win”). Winners of a Video Win prize will receive win notification and instructions on how to claim their prize on screen.
  11. Entrants registering a valid promotional code will, having watched the first video clip and determined if they have a Video Win, then be notified of a second Scenario ("Second Scenario") on screen relating to a second short video clip which, if that clip matches the Second Scenario, will result in that entrant being able to claim a second Video Win  prize (“Second Video Win”). Winners of a Second Video Win prize will receive win notification and instructions on how to claim their prize on screen.
  12. The allocation of specific Scenarios and Second Scenarios to an entrant, together with the possible prize(s) to be won if a Scenario and/or Second Scenario happens, will be entirely at random and overseen independently. The promotional code registered will not impact in any way on the Scenario and/or Second Scenario allocated to an entrant or the prize awarded if that Scenario and/or Second Scenario occurs. There is no restriction on an entrant with a Video Win also being successful with a Second Video Win during registration of the same code.
  13. There are six prize tiers that can be won if a Scenario and/or a Second Scenario happens. The Video Win prize pool consists of 10 x £20,000; 125 x £1,000; 250 x £500; 10,000 x £20; 30,000 x £5 plus three million (3,000,000) free packs of MARS, REVELS, M&Ms, GALAXY MINSTRELS, MALTESERS, TWIX, GALAXY RIPPLE, SNICKERS, STARBURST, SKITTLES and WRIGLEY’s EXTRA. The Second Video Win prize pool consists of 10 x £20,000; 125 x £1,000; 250 x £500; 10,000 x £20; 30,000 x £5 plus three million (3,000,000) free packs of MARS, REVELS, M&Ms, GALAXY MINSTRELS, MALTESERS, TWIX, GALAXY RIPPLE, SNICKERS, STARBURST, SKITTLES and WRIGLEY’s EXTRA. Winners of cash prizes will receive their prize via bank transfer. Prizes of a free product will be delivered by means of a downloadable coupon, which can be redeemed against a pack from the list of products above, up to a maximum value of £1, subject to availability of the winner’s preferred product at the time of coupon redemption. No change will be provided in the event that the chosen product costs less than £1 at the point of coupon redemption.
  14. In the event of unforeseen circumstances, the Promoter reserves the right to substitute any of the prizes for an alternative prize of equal or greater value.
  15. Winners of a £20,000 £1,000 or £500 cash prize as either a Video Win or Second Video Win will be required to post the promotional pack featuring the code they registered when entering to the freepost address shown in the win notification email, together with their name and phone number, in order to claim their prize. Winners of a £20 and £5 cash prize as either a Video Win or Second Video Win will receive an email asking them to provide bank account details to which their prize should be transferred. All prize claims must be made within 6 months of receiving email notification as a winner. Any claims received after this time will be rejected. Free pack winners will receive an email containing a unique link to a downloadable personalised free product coupon. Product coupons can be printed only once and will need to be redeemed within 6 months of date of print. The link to the downloadable coupon will not expire until 31 May 2021. Free product coupons should be used in accordance with the current government guidelines relating to shopping at the time of redemption.
  16. For cash prizes, please allow 28 days for completion of the bank transfer. At this time, cash prize winners are not able to request their prize in cheque form (since the Promoter is keen to minimise the need for winners to make unnecessary trips to cash their cheque at their bank or building society). However, in the event that the current Coronavirus guidelines are relaxed further during the Promotion Period, the Promoter will consider offering alternative cash prize payment methods.
  17. The Promoter cannot be responsible in the event that an entrant fails to receive an email with a link to a free product coupon as a result of having provided an incorrect or incomplete email address when registering their code. The Promoter also accepts no responsibility if a winner fails to receive their cash prize in their bank account as a result of having provided incorrect bank account details.
  18. Scenarios and Second Scenarios are allocated entirely at random and an online notification confirming a Video Win and/or Second Video Win is final and binding. No correspondence will be entered into, except with prize winners.
  19. Tesco/One Stop Prize Draw:
    1. Entrants purchasing a promotional pack from any participating Tesco or One Stop store and who confirm that they purchased the pack from Tesco or One Stop in the drop down menu of participating retailers when registering their unique promotional code at www.thesweetstake.com during the Promotion Period will automatically be entered into a Prize Draw for the chance to win one of 20 prizes of £2,020.
    2. Northern Ireland residents only: no purchase necessary.  For a free entry in the Tesco/One Stop Prize Draw, send a stamped addressed envelope with your full name, postal and email address to Mars Sweetstake Tesco/One Stop NPN, PO Box 1079, Hemel Hempstead, HP1 1G7 during the Promotion Period.  Only one free entry application for the Tesco/One Stop Prize Draw will be accepted per NI resident per day throughout the Promotion Period.  Valid NPN entries will be given an equal and random chance of winning via an independently supervised prize draw.
    3. Winner Selection: Entrants registering codes from products purchased from any Tesco or One Stop store will be entered into a prize draw to be conducted within 3 working days of the end of the Promotion Period. The winners in the Prize Draw will be the first 20 names selected randomly from all valid entries. 
    4. Winner Notification: Prize Draw winners will be contacted via the email addresses provided when registering a promotional code within 5 working days of the Prize Draw and will be required to respond confirming name, address and bank account details plus acceptance of the prize within 14 days of being notified as a winner in the Tesco/One Stop Prize Draw. In the event a winner does not respond to this notification within 14 days, the Promoter reserves the right to select an alternative winner from all remaining entries, with the originally selected winner forfeiting their right to the prize.
    5. There are 20 prizes to be won in the Tesco/One Stop Prize Draw, each consisting of a cash prize to the value of £2,020. Each prize will be paid via bank transfer, to the bank account confirmed by the winner when responding to their notification as a winner. A bank transfer will be made within 28 days of confirmation by a winner of their bank account details and verification of the winner’s claim. At this time, cash prize winners are not able to request their prize in cheque form (since the Promoter is keen to minimise the need for winners to make unnecessary trips to cash their cheque at their bank or building society). However, in the event that the current Coronavirus guidelines have been relaxed further by the time the prize draw is conducted at the end of the Promotion Period, the Promoter will consider offering alternative cash prize payment methods to the 20 winners.
  20. Except where winner(s) have notified the Promotor that they do not want their details to be shared, details of the winners of the £20,000, £1,000 and £500 prizes and the £2,020 prizes in the Tesco/One Stop Prize Draw, (all abbreviated names and counties only) will be available for a 4-week period from 11 January 2021 by emailing hayley@promotioncustomerservices.com.
  21. By participating in the promotion and accepting these Terms and Conditions when registering a promotional code, entrants agree that if they win a prize, their name and prize details might feature on www.thesweetstake.com and in other social media posts produced by the Promoter to advertise the promotion. Winners can notify the Promoter if they do not want their name to be shared in this way. In addition, winners of the major prizes listed in Condition 15 may be asked by the Promoter to participate in reasonable further publicity relating to their winning of a prize, free of charge. The Promoter will contact major prize winners prior to the intended publicity, but only during the period in which their details will be held in accordance with Condition 27. A winner shall have the right to decline to participate in such future publicity.
  22. The Promoter and its associated agencies and companies will not be liable for any loss (including, without limitation, indirect, special or consequential loss or loss of profits), expense or damage which is suffered or sustained (whether or not arising from any person’s negligence) in connection with the prizes or accepting or using the prize, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law (including personal injury, death and fraud) in which case that liability is limited to the minimum allowable by law.
  23. All prizes are as stated, are non-transferable and no alternatives will be available. There is no limit on the number of prizes an entrant can win in the promotion.
  24. If the Promoter has reasonable grounds to believe that a prize winner has breached these terms and conditions or has otherwise manipulated the code registration process or allocation of Scenarios and/or Second Scenarios, that winner will be disqualified and any claim they have for a prize invalidated.
  25. In the event of circumstances outside the reasonable control of the Promoter impacting on its ability to operate the promotion as planned, or otherwise where fraud, abuse, and/or an error (human or computer) affects or could affect the proper operation of this promotion or the awarding of prizes, the Promoter reserves the right to suspend the promotion or amend these terms and conditions, at any stage, with no liability to any entrants or third parties, but will always endeavour to minimise the effect to participants in order to avoid undue disappointment.
  26. These terms and conditions are governed by English Law and shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts.
  27. The Promoter will use personal details supplied by entrants in accordance with Condition 21 and for the administration of the promotion and for no other purpose, unless an entrant has consented to other uses. Except where consent has been provided, personal details of entrants will be deleted within 30 days of the end of the Promotion Period.  Any winner can request for their details to be deleted before the expiry of the relevant period by emailing the address in Condition 20, although the Promoter cannot be held responsible if such request means that it is not possible for delivery of that winner's prize to be completed.
  28. Mars/National Emergencies Trust (NET) Matched Donation:
    1. The Promoter is delighted to confirm that participation in the promotion will generate a charitable donation of £500,000 (five hundred thousand pounds) to be made by the Promoter to National Emergencies Trust (Registered Charity in England and Wales, No. 1182809)
    2. A winner allocated a Video Win or Second Video Win prize will receive a pop-up message confirming the cash value of their prize (or the fact that they have won a free pack), together with a statement confirming that the Promoter has matched the value of their prize by way of a donation to a charitable fund to be paid to NET. The Promoter will continue to make donations matching the value of prizes until the target total donation of £500,000 has been reached. The pop-up message received by all winners confirming their prize will provide a link to a page featuring further information on NET, confirming that NET will be receiving the donation funds and explaining how the funds will be used.
    3. The Promoter's target donation of £500,000 will be supporting NET's Coronavirus Appeal, which aims to fundraise and distribute funds to local organisations in areas most affected by the coronavirus. This target donation will be generated by winning prizes claimed during the Promotion Period, since the Promoter will donate the matching value of each prize claimed to the fund to be donated to NET. For these purposes, cash prizes will generate a matching donation to the same value, whereas a "free pack" prize will generate a donation of £1 (being the maximum redemption value of the "free pack" coupon provided to winners). In the event that the target total donation of £500,000 is achieved through matched donations, the Promoter will confirm on the Sweetstake promotion website (and in pop-up messages provided to winners after the target has been reached) that the target donation has been achieved and that no further matched donations will be made. In the event that the target total donation of £500,000 is not achieved through donations matching cash prizes claimed in the promotion, the Promoter will make up the shortfall.
  29. The Promoter is Mars Wrigley Confectionery UK Limited (the ‘Promoter’) whose registered address is 3D Dundee Rd, Slough SL1 4LG.
